Several features of the MCAS that makes it unique, including:

1. Different behavioural and technological options (ambition levels) - It brings together all sectors in Malaysia and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions options in one place, including implications for energy security, air quality, lifestyle and land use at different ambition levels.
2. Immediate calculation of impacts – Different decision on mitigation actions brings different impacts or outcomes for Malaysia e.g. emission reductions by green technologies, energy consumption, costs, etc.
3. Different pathways and comparative analysis - It is easy to use and can be used by policy makers, researchers, academician, students, private companies, NGOs and other interested stakeholders and providing a common language for discussions on the necessity of climate change mitigation measures and on how to reach decarbonisation pathways at national, state or cities level.
4. Full transparency - It is accessible, open and transparent. It is built in Excel and published online with all key assumptions documented. Expert stakeholders are consulted during the tool development process.

• ONE PAGER is created for each levers to describe each level of trajectories as reference for the users.
• The information for ONE PAGER is sourced from Malaysia current policies, action plans, master plans and any other relevant documents or studies.
• All assumptions and data are visible in the model and explained in the ONE PAGER.

Description of the Model

For each sector of the economy, four trajectories have been developed, ranging from least abatement effort or no effort to reduce emissions (level 1) to extremely ambitious changes that push towards the physical or technical limits of what can be achieved (level 4). The four (4) levels are used as boundaries to create scenarios.
